Goodwood Horse Racing – 2nd May - 11th October 2009
Goodwood Racecourse, set high on the Sussex Downs and just ten
miles down the road, is arguably one of the most beautiful racecourses
in the world. From May to October 2009 Goodwood will host twenty-three
days of exhilarating flat racing.
Glorious Goodwood 28th July - 1st August 2009
At the five-day July Festival, affectionately known as Glorious
Goodwood, all the elements of a great event collide; it’s the glamour
of top class racing mixed with the outstanding beauty of the
racecourse, and the famously stylish dress code that makes Glorious
Goodwood unquestionably the chicest invitation of the summer’s social
and racing calendar. www.goodwood.co.uk
Motor racing at Goodwood House and Park
Festival of Speed 3rd – 5th July 2009
For three days a year Goodwood hosts the world’s greatest car
collection, where cars and drivers are gathered from all over the globe
to participate in what the Daily Telegragh claim is ‘the greatest show
on earth’. It is a spectacular celebration of the internal combustion
engine in all its forms – from F1 to rally, from Nascar to MotoGP, -
and boasts the largest collection of today’s Supercars to be seen at
any motor show. The noise of high revving engines, the smell of burning
rubber, and the high octane atmosphere surrounding the theatre on the
track is what compels people of all ages to come back time and time
again. www.goodwood.co.uk
Goodwood Revival – 18th-20th September 2009
The glamorous Goodwood Revival has become arguably the most successful
historic motor racing meeting in the world and the only major sporting
event to be set to a period theme. Set in the 1940s, 50s and 60s, this
unique experience is pure theatre and a “magical step back in time”. www.goodwood.co.uk
Cowdray Park Polo - 25th April -20th September 2009
Seven miles away Cowdray Park, with its long and illustrious history,
is recognised worldwide as the ‘home of British Polo’. Set in an Area
of Outstanding Natural Beauty within Viscount Cowdray’s 16,500 acre
estate in West Sussex, the game of polo has been played at Cowdray for
close on a century. The Gold Cup continues to be the highlight of the
polo season at Cowdray. Sponsored since 1995 by leading champagne house
Veuve Clicquot, the Gold Cup welcomed its Golden Jubilee in 2006 with
due celebration.

Petworth Park
Eight miles down the road stands the vast late
17th-century mansion Petworth House and beautiful 700-acre park.
Landscaped by ' Capability' Brown and immortalised in Turner's
paintings, the Petworth estate is home to an internationally acclaimed
art collection and the largest herd of fallow deer in England.
Rock concerts, theatre productions and opera are just a few of the
events that take place at this stunning and quintessentially English
venue.
